Rocket Lab, founded in New Zealand in 2006 by Peter Beck, is a publicly traded aerospace manufacturer and launch service provider, now headquartered in Long Beach, California. Known for its lightweight Electron orbital rockets, Rocket Lab specializes in launching small satellites and is developing a larger Neutron rocket, planned for 2024. Rocket Lab made history as the first private company in the Southern Hemisphere to reach space with its ฤ€tea-1 sounding rocket in 2009. In addition to rocket launches, the company also builds and operates satellites, participating in projects like the Space Development Agency's space-based missile defense program.
